Police official slain in QC

DEATH came without notice for a ranking police official who was waylaid by three unidentified motorcycle riding gunmen on Monday morning in Novaliches, Quezon city.

Investigators identified the victim as Chief Insp. Roderick Medrano, Chief of Operations of the Quezon City Police District – Station 4.

Medrano was on board his green Honda Civic sedan around 7:30 a.m. on his way to work when attacked. He was with his wife and children when the assailants opened fire at Zabarte Road.

The men, who were armed with a .45 caliber pistol and an automatic Uzi machine pistol, peppered the victim’s car with bullets apparently to make sure that he was dead before fleeing towards Fairview area.

Fortunately, the victim’s two children and wife were not harmed.

Police Chief Insp. Rodel Marcelo, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) said they are conducting follow-up operations to determine the identities of the suspects and the motive behind the killing.
