POLICE have recovered abandoned boxes of explosive ingredients near a retail store in a remote village in Rosario town, Agusan del Sur province late Tuesday, police reports said on Thrusday.
Reports reaching the Philippine National Police (PNP) national operations center in Camp Crame said that the boxes of explosive ingredients were recovered near a store owned by a certain Jeraldine Gamayon at Purok-6, Bayugan-3 of Rosario town.
The Rosario Municipal Police received a phone call telling them that a suspicious unattended baggage was left within the premises of the said store. The police department immediately dispatched several policemen in the area to check the report.
Responding policemen found and recovered two carton boxes marked with “Superdyne” explosive and three sacks containing some 25 kilograms of ‘ammonium nitrate’, believed to be ingredients for explosive, reports said.
The reports said that no one claimed ownership of the boxes. The recovered items are now under the custody of the Rosario Municipal Police station for safekeeping and proper disposition. ANTHONY VARGAS
