The 150-day long Election Gun Ban that took effect on January 13 to curb and minimize violence related to last month’s midterm local and national elections expires today.

However, the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said it will continue its campaign against loose firearms.

“The PNP will still strictly enforce the gun ban even on its last day of implementation,” PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr., said during a press briefing in Camp Crame.

The police arrested 3, 684 people and seized 3,578 various firearms during the implementation of the election gun ban.
