“Ang pamilya ay ang pinakamahalagang kayamanan ng isang bansa. Naway pagsikapan nating ipagtanggol at patatagin itong pundasyon ng lipunan,” the Pope posted on his official Twitter account, @Pontifex last Friday.
He earlier tweeted the same sentence but in English: “The family is the greatest treasure of any country. Let us all work to protect and strengthen this, the cornerstone of society.”
This tweet came after he made his first tweet on the micro-blogging website on the same day marking the first tweet since he arrived for his five-day Apostolic visit last Thursday (Jan 15).
On Saturday night, he posted his third tweet in Filipino, echoing the same message he shared with the survivors of typhoon “Yolanda” and pilgrims during his mass at the Tacloban Airport in Leyte.
“Ang kahabagan ng Diyos, ang kanyang sakripisyo, ay nagbibigay saysay at halaga sa lahat ng ating paghihirap,” the Pope said in his tweet.
An English version came ahead of the tweet translated in Filipino: “The com-passion of God, his suffering-with-us, gives meaning and worth to our struggles and our sufferings.”
Both Filipino and English versions of the Pope’s tweets have gotten thousands of retweets since Friday.
The Pope was earlier named the most influential Twitter user or “tweep” in the world, according to a Twiplomacy 2014, a study of how Twitter is being used by world leaders.
He currently has about 5.01 million followers on his official Twitter account, which was first activated last February 2012. PNA
