TACLOBAN CITY: Pope Francis has appointed a new bishop from the Archdiocese of Palo in Leyte, Fr. Oscar Llaneta Florencio, who is currently serving as Rector of the St. John the Evangelist School of Theology. Palo Archbishop John F. Du said he has already offloaded the responsibilities of bishop-elect Florencio as rector, so the latter can prepare for his new role. The second bishop-elect is Msgr. Dennis Villarojo, who is currently serving at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish Church in Cebu City. Villarojo also served as the secretary of Archbishop Emeritus of Cebu Ricardo Cardinal Vidal and is the incumbent head of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Planning Board. The new bishops have been assigned as auxiliary bishops of the Archdiocese of Cebu under Archbishop Jose Palma.
