Post election attack grips Marawi City

Harassment continued to grip Lanao del Sur three days after the May 9 elections as gunmen on Thursday fired indiscriminately at a gasoline station in Marawi City, believed meant to sow fear in the area, police said.

City Police chief, Supt. Roel Lami-ing, told The Manila Times that the attack transpired at about 4 a.m. at a Shell gasoline station owned by Hadji Mohaysen, also known as Mampao Landua, in the isolated village of Cadayonan.

He said no one was hurt in the shooting incident after which the unidentified suspects quickly fled towards an unknown direction.

Recovered from the crime scene were 135 empty shells of various calibers, including 7.62×39 mm for AK-47 and other weapons using 5.56, 9mm and 7.62 calibers.

On the election day, two (not one as previously reported) were killed in Barangay Cabingan inside the Mindanao State University main campus when supporters of Majul Gandamra were ambushed at the polling center.

Killed in the attack were Hapidh Usman and his brother Jalalloden who were escorting a convoy of Board of Election Inspectors transporting ballots and other election paraphernalia to Cabingan Elementary School.
