The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center expects to sign next week the contract for the P3.5 billion Integrated Transport System-Southwest Terminal project, PPP Executive Director Cosette Canilao said on Thursday.
She said the notice of award was issued on Jan 23 to the bidders, MWM Terminals, a consortium of Megawide Construction Corp and WM Property Management Inc.
“Hopefully we can sign next week. The access permit has been given by the property owner so we can start,” Canilao said.
The project,a single-stage bidding, was solicited. It was structured as build-transfer-operate (BTO) with a 35-year cooperation period, inclusive of the construction stage.
The project aims to provide a central transport terminal where all modes of transport will be available in one location. This terminal will ensure effective inter-connection between different transport modes and services and ensure seamless travel for the commuting public.
The terminal, which will be constructed in a 4.59-hectare area, will connect passengers coming from the Cavite side to other transport systems such as the future LRT Line 1 South Extension, city bus, taxi, and other public utility vehicles that are serving inner Metro Manila.
The project will include passenger terminal buildings, arrival and departure bays, public information systems, ticketing and baggage handling facilities, and park-ride facilities.
MWM Terminals will undertake the design, construction, and financing of the ITS terminal as well as the operation and maintenance of the whole facility. It can also undertake commercial development and collect revenues generated from the same.
