Health officials have listed a 30-year-old pregnant woman as the first dengue fatality in San Fernando City, La Union province.
The Department of Health identified the patient as Charitee Mariano Saborboro, a resident of Barangay San Francisco in San Fernando City, went to a private clinic for a medical consultation on June 3, after she started to feel malaise last May 28 and she developed a fever last May 31.
She was then advised by the attending doctor at the clinic on June 3 to have further examination in a hospital, which she complied with.
She went to the Ilocos Training Regional Medical Center at 4:30 PM on the same day and delivered a dead baby at about 5:24 pm before she died.
The cause of death was listed as severe Dengue fever with hypovolemic shock and intra uterine fetal demise.
Eduardo Posadas, San Fernando City health officer, said that about 120 dengue cases were reported to his office from January to June this year.
Mayor Pablo Ortega also ordered a team to fumigate in Barangay San Francisco.
