Cultural Center of the Philippines and the country’s premiere ballet companies, Ballet Philippines, Ballet Manila and Philippine Ballet Theatre, team up for the new biennial dance festival dubbed Dance.MNL. A two-week intensive dance workshop series and festival, danceMNL brings classical, modern and contemporary dance pieces to CCP and several other venues from June 14 to 26.
Master classes and training-workshops will be conducted by esteemed Filipino dancers and choreographers. Basic, intermediate, advanced ballet and modern dance classes as well as introductory classes for adult beginners are offered at the CCP studios and in the College of Saint Benilde School of Design and Arts. Sessions are scheduled from Tuesdays to Saturdays.
The Winners’ Circle, Dance.MNL’s kick-off performance featuring award winning dancers Jared Tan, Christine Rocas and Candace Adea, will be staged on June 21, 8 p.m. at the CCP Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo. Other dance genres performed by professional dance groups, dance companies and independent dance artists like UP Dance Company, Eisa Jocson, Ballet Philippines, Airdance, Daloy Dance Company, Ballet Manila will be staged at the CCP Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (Little Theatre), CCP Rehearsal Hall and the Aliw Theatre.
Dubbed “Ballet Filipino”, the closing performance will be a showcase of the performances of Ballet Philippines, Ballet Manila and Philippine Ballet Theatre.
Dance intensive classes rates range from P200 (dance talks) to P5,000 (all access pass) with a regular registration fee of P300. Festival passes for the Performances are available for P3,500 for select performances and P5,000 for reserved seats for all performances. Single ticket rates are also available with prices ranging from P200 to P1,000 depending on the venue.
