December is here and my social calendar is getting filled up with parties and events. But even before the full blast, November was also a busy month what with the annual grand balls of Tatler Magazine and Club Bulakeño, an exhibit by international photo-grapher Rupert Jacinto, and most especially, Karr Marin’s
Manila’s Best Dressed Awards.
The yearly search for Manila’s Best Dressed culminated at the historic Centennial Hall of The Manila Hotel on November 21. The cremè de la cremè of Manila braved the heavy Friday traffic to have a glimpse of the 2014 batch of winners. Glitz and glamour was the night’s theme.
Leading the fa-shionable set for Manila’s Famous Best Dressed Women were businesswoman Anna Sia, who made a dramatic entrance in a Dobie Aranda cre-ation, Manolyne Taylor, Cory Navarro, Jessica Maloles and Bohol’s five-star Peacock Garden Hotel Resort owner Lani Schoof.
Those chosen as 2014 Manila’s Best Dressed women were Rotarian Precy Yulo in a Goullee Gorospe and Dobie Aranda creations; Shirley Sobremonte in Letlet originals; young enterprenuer Cherry Miguel in Rajo Laurel gowns; Vice Gov. of Dinagat Island, Surigao Del Norte Jade Ecleo; print ad model and product endorser Derlyn Maceda; socio-civic leader and Austrian Consul’s wife Elmira Ulbrich; Ma. Corazon Esguerra Lozada; Katrina Schoof Chu in Larry Espinosa designs; Inner Wheel Club of the Philippines Ditas Crisostomo; Soroptomist international president Ladydatin Lourdes; Salinas dela Cruz-Yletuts; and businesswoman and traveler Nerly Yu.
Special lifetime awardees were Baby De Jesus as “Style
Legend” and Rose Santiago Licup as “Style Ambassadress.”
Spotted during the event were, Justice Lolong Lazaro’s wife Madame Rose, mother-and-daughter fashion designers Malou and Letlet Veloso, Asian Develop–ment Bank executive Jeff Taylor, Joanne and Gunter Matschuck, and Dr. George Sarakinis, among others.
Adding glitters to the event were my fellow presenters business-woman Marissa Fenton, Agile Zamora, Atty. Manette Agbayani, actress and
fomer beauty queen Ma. Isabel Lopez, Jemellie Gonzales Palabay, Arthur Manuntag and restaurateur Heidi Caroline Ng.
