President Benigno Aquino 3rd has appointed 22 new judges for provincial courts.
The new judges were listed in a transmittal letter Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa sent to Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno August 30 but it reached the Supreme Court on September 5.
The new judges were assigned to Zamboanga, Misamis Oriental and Occidental, Bukidnon, Davao, Mindoro, Quezon Province, Cebu, Surigao, Samar, Saranggani and Lanao del Sur.
Assigned to Zamboanga were: Judges Catherine Calumba Fabian, RTC Branch 16 of Zamboanga City; Felix Rodriguez, RTC Branch 18 Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Norte; Cherry Joy Concha-Ageas, RTC Branch 10 Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte; Anthony dela Torre Isaw, RTC Branch 24 Zamboanga Sibugay; AlnaizaTungupon Hassiman, 5th Municipal Circuit Trial Court Katipunan-Zamboanga del Norte.
Assigned to Misamis were Judges Alvyn Lopena, 3rd MCTC Aloran-Panaon, Misamis Occidental; Stephen Ian Belacho, 1st MCTC Calamba-Baliangao, Misamis Occidental and Sabrina Balbon Lagamon, the 8th MCTC Initao-Libertad, Misamis Oriental.
Assigned to Bukidnon were Judges Jerlie Luis Requerme, 3rd MCTC Impasugong-Sumilao, Bukidnon, and Susan Son Azares, 6th MCTC Kibawe-Damulog-Kadingilan, Bukidnon.
Assigned to Davao were Judges Magnolia Cassion Velez, RTC Branch 20, Digos City, Davao Del Sur; Nanette Gustillo Lemana, Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 6 of Davao City, Davao Del Sur.
Assigned to Cebu were Judges Kit Enriquez, 9th MCTC Bolijoon-Alcoy, and Jacinto Fajardo Jr., RTC Branch 66 of Talisay City.
Other appointees: Gay Marie Lubigan-Rafael, RTC Branch 46, San Jose, Mindoro Occidental; Alelie Briones-Garcia, 5th MCTC Polilo-Panukulan, Quezon Province; Ingrid Anne Riola-Bermido, 3rd MVYV Padre Burgos-Agdangan, Quezon Province; Noel Sermense, MTCC Calbayog City, Samar; Cesar Bordalba, RTC Branch 31, Dapa, Surigao del Norte; Julieto Bajan, MTCC Branch 2, Surigao City, Surigao Del Norte; Arnel Amparo Zapatos, 1st MCTC Glan-Malapatan, Sarangani and Osop Palagawad Abbas, 9th MCTC Wao-Bumbaran, Lanao del Sur.
The appointees were screened by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) headed by Sereno as chairman, with Justice Secretary Leila de Lima and Sen. Aquilino Pimentel 3rd as ex-officio members.
There are three regular members: Atty. Jose Mejia from the Academe, Atty. Milagros Fernan-Cayosa from the IBP, and retired CA Justice Aurora Santiago-Lagman from the private sector.
