ROC President Ma Ying-jeou stressed Taiwan’s close ties with the EU and the inspiration of the European experience for the Republic of China Sept. 29 in a videoconference with Members of the European Parliament.
President Ma cited the huge student exchange program that “completely changed Franco-German relations” following World War II as the inspiration for his vigorous promotion of cross-strait student exchanges, which are expected to “decrease misunderstandings and help preserve peace.”
