President visits Ruby-hit Samar

President Benigno Aquino 3rd will be visiting Eastern Samar today to check recovery efforts in areas badly hit by Typhoon Ruby.

In a radio interview, Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said President Aquino will be visiting Dolores town and the city of Borongan “to personally assess the situation of our countrymen who were affected by Typhoon Ruby.”

“He also would like to assure government’s help in the recovery and rehabilitation efforts,” he added.

In an earlier interview, Aquino said he was considering proposals to give typhoon victims a cash subsidy for housing assistance.

He said P10,000 to P30,000 can be given to the victims, depending on the extent of the damage to their homes.

Aquino added that the money can come from disaster funds because at least P7.3 billion is available. Typhoon Ruby killed 18 persons and affected over 800,000 people in nine regions.

  1. I suspect President Benigno Semeon Aquino III is aiming to run again as President in 2016. This is the reason why he is so reluctant or lukewarm in naming Mar Roxas as LP’s standard bearer. Has he forgotten the noble sacrifice that Mar Roxas did for him when he set aside his own ambition to give way for Aquino to run as President? I am not saying that President Aquino is ungrasteful, but at least he should rfefrain from grooming somebody else for the Prfesidential election.
