PRICE FREEZE TAKES EFFECT IN 4 ILOILO TOWNS

PRICE control takes effect in the Iloilo towns of Dumangas, Mina, Janiuay, and Zarraga after the province was declared under state of calamity due to the onslaught of Typhoon Yolanda. Republic Act 7581 or the Price Act states that price control shall be automatically implemented in areas that were heavily affected by calamities and emergencies and after it was placed under a state of calamity. Prevailing prices of basic necessities which include rice, corn, bread, fresh dried and canned fish and other marine products, fresh pork, beef, and poultry meat, fresh eggs, fresh and processed milk, fresh vegetables, root crops, coffee, sugar, cooking oil, salt, laundry soap, detergents, firewood, charcoal and candles shall remain for 60 days.
