Following a successful gamble of pitting a comedy series with the big networks’ primetime dramas, through Sharon Cuneta’s Madam Chairman, TV5 carries on with its “game-changing” vision anew on March 3.
Monday will see the premiere of Confessions of a Torpe, headlined by singer-cum-comedian Ogie Alcasid, “a crazy story about love and the many ways to not express it.”
At the show’s press launch on Wednesday, Ogie confessed that he finds his latest project a big challenge.
“This will be the first time I’ll be doing a daily comedy show so that the challenge is to sustain the laughter five days a week,” he related. “But at the same time, I feel extremely blessed to be given this project, and more importantly, to work with such respected names in the business.”
Ogie is referring to a powerhouse cast of Alice Dixson, Gelli de Belen, Wendell Ramos, Bayani Agbayani, Jojo Alejar, Mike Lloren, Gerry Acao, and veterans Bibeth Orteza and Pilita Corales. The show’s young stars include Mark Neumann, Shaira Mae and Albie Casino
Confessions of a Torpe follows the story of Christopher “Tupe” Matacutin (Ogie), a 40 year old certified torpe (and virgin) who becomes a victim of a family curse. Because of their katorpehan, all men in Tupe’s family remain bachelors. Despite being the perfect gentleman, Tupe cannot make his move to win the heart of his muse, the gorgeous, Monique Salcedo (Alice).
According to director Soxy Topacio, viewers should expect more than just comical moments from the series as the script also brings out the actors versatility in touching moments.
“I realized that Ogie is not just a great comedian but a good actor in this project,” he
revealed. “He sheds tears when the scene calls for it and I’m really very impressed with his performance.”
Confessions of a Torpe premieres on TV5 on March 3 at 7:30 p.m.
