PROPOSED UNIFORM FOR COLLEGE TEACHERS JUNKED

THE Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) has rejected the proposed bill filed by Rep. Roman Romulo of Pasig City, which seeks to impose uniform qualification for college teachers. Lawyer Julito Vitriolo, CHEd executive director on Thursday said Congress need not to create a law which prescribes minimum qualifications for college teachers because the Commission has already specific policy standards and guidelines per program stipulating minimum faculty requirements. Romulo earlier filed House Bill 3392 otherwise known as the Uniform Qualification Standards for College or University Faculty Act—a legislation that prescribes uniform qualification standards for both public and private teachers who are applying for job as faculty member in colleges and universities.
