PSEi leads most Asia marts

THE Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) bucked the cautious trend across most other Asian markets, gaining 52.84 points or 0.68 percent in morning trade on Tuesday.

The local bourse opened at 7,701.90 and climbed steadily to 7,754.74 before the noontime break, outpacing most other regional markets, which saw only very modest gains. The PSEi closed Monday at 7,665.33, a gain of 0.57 percent.

Analysts over the weekend expected the PSEi to gain prior to Thursday’s critical vote in Great Britain on whether or not to leave the European Union.
