The Philippine Swimming League (PSL) is now gearing up for the 2015 Australia Swimming Championships with Swimmers of the Year Sean Terence Zamora and Kyla Soguilon leading the squad.

Zamora and Soguilon were selected based on their showing in the 72nd PSL Leg Series held at the Diliman Preparatory School in Quezon City.

“Last year, Zamora was the most bemedalled swimmer among all the Australian and Asian participants. He beat swimmers from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia and host Australia,” said PSL President Susan Papa.

Filipino Community in Australia President Vicki Wotherspoon, who recently visited the Philippines, has expressed her full support to the Philippine delegation headed by former senator Nikki Coseteng.

The PSL, through Papa and Secretary General Dr. Maria Susan Benasa, also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to Wotherspoon for her continuous and unwavering support to the young swimmers as well as to the officials of the Philippine delegation.

“We are grateful to the Filipino community in Australia for their support and we’re looking forward to another successful campaign this year,” added Papa.

Last year, the PSL won 21 golds, six silvers and eight bronzes in the Australia Swimming Championships – All Stars Swimming Challenge.

Zamora led the team with 11 golds in the boys’ 13 years category. He ruled the 200m IM, 100m butterfly, 50m breaststroke, 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 100m backstroke, 4x50m freestyle relay, 13-14 medley relay and 15-16 medley relay to win the Most Outstanding Swimmer award.

Besides Zamora and Soguilon, eight more swimmers are expected to be included in the Perth-bound team.
