It’s time for swimmers in the Western Visayas Region to show their wares as the Philippine Swimming League’s 61st Leg Series goes to Iloilo to select talented tankers for the 2015 World Summer University Games in Gwangju, South Korea.
The event will be held on July 5 to 6 at the John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University swimming pool in Iloilo City. It will be hosted by Ronald Sta. Ana of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University.
“We would like to invite all clubs, teams, schools to participate and join the 61st PSL Leg Series as we believe that there are lots of talented swimmers in this region,” said PSL President Susan Papa.
The two-day meet will serve as tryout for the World Summer University Games otherwise known as Universiade as well as in some international competitions including the 2014 Royal Bangkok Meet in Thailand later this year.
“This swim meet will encourage participation along with great competition for swimmers ages 8 and under up to Master’s Level. This is open to all. Everyone can join, participate and submit their entries,” added Papa.
Multi-gold medalist Kyla Soguilon of Aklan Swimming Team is expected to dominate the girls’ division. The nine-year-old Soguilon is a consistent gold medal winner in international scene. She won golds in the 2014 Western Cape Swimming Gala in Cape Town, South Africa, the 2014 Hong Kong Stingrays Swimming Championships and the 2013 Royal Bangkok Meet in Thailand.
Trophies and medals will be awarded to the Most Outstanding Swimmers in each age group (6-under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-over) for boys and girls.
