THAI oil and gas conglomerate PTT Plc, the parent company of PTT Philippines, has been cited as one of the world’s greenest companies in the 2015 Newsweek Green Rankings.
PTT was ranked 111th among the 500 largest publicly traded companies in the world by market capitalization, up from 136th place in 2014.
“The rankings of PTT Plc reflect the company’s goal to become a multinational energy company and technologically advanced and green national oil company, and we are trying to duplicate it in the Philippines,” PTT Philippines president and chief executive officer Sukanya Seriyothin said.
In the Philippines, PTT is also active in environmental advocacies through its corporate social responsibility projects that are focused on reforestation.
Two of its major projects are “Gas Up for a Tree” in Morong, Bataan and the “BakaJuan: Back to the Mangroves” in Noveleta, Cavite.
“We know, however, that it will take some time, through hard work, before we could duplicate here in the Philippines our environmental efforts in Thailand. But we are optimistic that we will get there,” said Seriyothin.
