INDEPENDENT oil player PTT Philippines targets to complete by May next year the construction of its biggest service station along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).
Construction of the mega station is currently on Phase 1 involving land development which includes backfilling works and construction of retaining walls.
Sukanya Seriyothin, PTT Philippines Corp. president and chief executive officer, said
Phase 1 of the project is about to be completed.
“Currently, Phase 1 is about 80 percent done and it is expected to be finished by end of July to middle of August 2015,” Seriyothin said during the groundbreaking ceremony.
She added that PTT will expedite building the service station so that it could be operational before its target date of completion.
“We are supposed to finish the construction by May 2016 but we will try to complete it even much earlier,” Seriyothin said.
The planned SCTEX service station, located at the expressway’s northbound lane in Barangay Macangcung, Concepcion, Tarlac is PTT’s biggest in the Philippines.
“PTT’s expansion of its investment shows our confidence in the government and in the business climate in the Philippines,” Seriyothin said.
In July 2014, PTT Philippines bagged the contract for the development of the service area after a competitive bidding conducted by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
PTT was given two years to develop the two-hectare property.
“We will bring the kind of station, products and services that we have in Thailand similar, to our Platinum Stations with one-stop-shop facilities for customers — from fuel, to food, to car services, to toilets and other amenities — including our signature coffee shop, Café Jungle,” Seriyothin said.
PTT is the largest oil company in Thailand and one of the biggest oil players in Southeast Asia with business operations also in Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
Outside Thailand, its biggest operation is in the Philippines where it has 84 service stations all over Luzon and in Cebu in the Visayas.
Last January, PTT Philippines opened its first Platinum Station, built on a 1.5-hectare property in Lucena City.
