A GROUP of publishers in the Philippines is eyeing media representation in Congress where it could “protect press freedom” and stop the proliferation of “fake news.”

“Meron kaming usapan na magkakaroon ang media groups ng representation sa Congress. Lahat ng problema aayusin namin , press freedom at fake news,” (We have a plan to have media representation in Congress. We will fix all the problems, especially on press freedom and fake news), said Nelson S. Santos, who was re-elected chairman of the Publishers Association of the Philippines Inc. (PAPI) during its 2018 midyear convention at the National Press Club on July 31.
