PUREFOODS beat Blackwater, 90-82, keeping the expansion team winless in seven games on Tuesday in the Philippine Basketball Association Season 40 Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
Although head coach Tim Cone wasn’t satisfied with the game’s outcome, the Hotshots were unstoppable in all fronts during the entire game. The combined effort of Peter June Simon and Joe Devance improved the team’s win-loss record to 3-3.
“We certainly didn’t play that well. They missed some shots that could’ve gotten them over the hump; we could be closer than it was. Important thing is we gotta win by one point, anything else is “pogi” points. We played a good game against NLEX but we’re still not playing connected basketball,” said Cone
Simon scored 18 points, Devance’s 16 and Allen Maliksi 11 points for the Hotshots, who are now tied with Meralco in the team standings.
Bryan Faundo and veteran Sunday Salvacion notched 14 points each for the winless Blackwater Elite. JOSEF T. RAMOS
