• Puregold sets 10-12% revenue guidance for 2016


    SUPERMARKET operator Puregold Price Club Inc. expects to grow revenue by 10 percent to 12 percent this year on the back of store expansion and innovations for the benefit of consumers.

    Vincent Co, Puregold president, and Antonio delos Santos, company vice president for operations, noted the company’s revenue guidance during the 11th Tindahan ni Aling Puring (TNAP) Sari-Sari Store Convention.

    Delos Santos said the growth will come from the innovations and the expansion program of the company.

    Puregold targets to open 25 stores a year.

    Six of the stores to be opened this year are already completed. Delos Santos said the next sites are in Bacolod and Cotabato.

    Co said most of the 255 Puregold stores last year were in Metro Manila, with only six in the Visayas and seven in Mindanao.

    Co said the company intends to have a wider presence in the growth areas such as Iloilo, Leyte, and the Bicol region.

    Puregold aims to close the year with at least 60 sari-sari store-mini marts from 41.

    There are 300,000 TNAP members nationwide, mostly in Metro Manila. Top Puregold spenders among the TNAP sari-sari store owners get the coveted gold membership which gives them access to Puregold support in converting their sari-sari stores into mini marts for free.

    Delos Santos pointed out that the Visayas region has bigger growth opportunities in terms of TNAP membership.

    Co, for his part, said Puregold wants to take advantage of this opportunity and help sari-sari store owners expand their business and gain an edge over emerging convenience stores.

    “The opportunity is huge. Convenience stores are growing by the numbers. We give sari-sari store owners the advantage to compete with emerging players,” Co said.
