PURISIMA ASKS COURT FOR TRAVEL PERMIT

0

Former Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Alan Purisima has asked the Sandiganbayan’s Sixth Division permission to travel to visit his son in the United States from September 5 to 27. Purisima, who is out on bail, made the request, saying that prior to the filing of the case against him, he and his family were scheduled to visit his son–Jason Arvi–who is studying at the Culinary Institute of America at Saint Helena, California. The request provided Purisima’s contact details and the location where he will be staying in California. In persuading the court to grant his request, the defense cited Article III, Section 6 of the 1987 Constitution which provides that individuals’ right to travel shall not be impaired except in the interest of national security, public safety or public health.
