Pusher shot dead after gun grab

Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna: A suspected drug pusher was killed on Wednesday after he reportedly grabbed the service firearm of his police escort while on their way to a hospital for medical check-up in Bacoor City, Cavite.

The Bacoor City Police chief, Supt. Christopher Olazo, said Melchor Supsupin was earlier arrested in a buy-bust at 12:45 a.m. in Barangay Talaba Uno, where two sachets of shabu were found in his possession.

As standard operating procedure, the suspect was brought to a hospital for medical examination.

While on board the police mobile car, Olazo said, Supsupin allegedly grabbed the service firearm of Senior Police Officer 1 Ian Matro, who was driving the vehicle, while traveling along Molino Road.

This prompted the escort, Police Officer 1 Jimmy Ikan, to fire at the suspect, who died on the way to Saint Dominic Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NORPPO) ordered the Vallehermoso Municipal Police Station to investigate the death of three suspected drug users and pushers, who are believed to have been summarily executed.

The NORPPO acting chief, Senior Supt. Nestor Tiempo, said Jeric Guinanao, 32, was found dead on Saturday in Sitio Macopa, Barangay Maglahos in Vallehermoso, some 148 kilometers away from the capital Dumaguete City.

Two other victims–Jojit Villa, 42, and Jonil Pagsuguiron, 34–of Moises Padilla town, suffered the same fate as Guinanao.

Their bodies bore gunshot wounds fro a .45 caliber pistol, with a warning to drug pushers and users written on bond paper.

Tiempo said Guinanao is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Kanlaon City Prosecutors Office and in Moises Padilla town.
