The Quezon City Council has approved a P14.456-billion budget for 2015 to support the city’s various financial needs and expenditures. The lion share of the budget is for general public services, which has an allocation of P7.910 or 54.56 percent. Social services was given P4.477 billion or 30.88 while the economic services has P948.297 million. In his budget message, Mayor Herbert Bautista vowed to spend the city’s expenditure program for 2015 directly on programs and projects that will care for the poor, marginalized sectors, environment and ecology, and other important infrastructure development. He also vowed to increase infrastructure development and implement socio-economic development plans geared towards the eradication of poverty. Bautista also wanted a rationalization and improvement of the frontline business and tax services and the provision of quality and up-to-date education, health care and decent human settlements in compliance with the Millennium Development Goal.
