A night of fun turned fatal for a young man who was hit by a stray bullet fired by one of two groups that engaged in a brawl at a Quezon City bar before dawn Friday.
Police identified he fatality as James Jolozo, 27, of Navotas City.
Supt. Marcelino Pedroso, chief of the Quezon City Police District Station 10, which has jurisdiction over the area said that Jolozo died while being treated at the Capitol Medical Center from a lone bullet wound in the head.
Perdoso said the incident happened in front of the Guilly’s Bar along Tomas Morato Avenue Extension at around 5:30 a.m.
A commotion erupted inside the bar involving the group of 20-year-old John Kieruf Preysler and another group of young men. Bouncers then came in to ward them off outside.
Once outside, one man immediately threw a punch on Preysler who ran back to the bar for safety. One from the rival group fired a gun at Preysler but missed. The victim, who was among the onlookers, took the bullet instead.
The suspects fled after the incident but police are now tracking them down.
