QC court acquits 2 Chinese in drugs

FOR failure of former Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agent and chairman of anti-drugs advocate Laban ng Pamilyang Pilipino Jonathan Morales to appear, the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (QC-RTC) dismissed the charges against two Chinese nationals. Freed for lack of evidence in a 14-page decision of QC-RTC Branch 103 Judge Felino Elefante were Go Hong Bing, alias Clarence Chen and Changxin Wang. They were charged with possession of dangerous drugs (Article II of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). Go was arrested by PDEA agents in a buy-bust operation on February 2, 2012 in Quezon City. Wang was captured on the basis of a deposit slip that agent Jonathan Morales paid supposedly for Go. The bank account that was used to transfer the money was named to Wang. The court said that Morales testified only once during the hearing of the case and never got cross examined because of his absence in the succeeding court hearings.
