• QC DAD PROPOSES NEW INDEPENDENCE DAY

    0

QUEZON City First District Councilor Victor Ferrer Jr. is filing a resolution urging Congress to declare August 23, the Cry of Pugadlawin, as the country’s new Independence Day. Pugad Lawin Philippines, Inc. (PLPI), led by national president Dominador Alcala, has petitioned the city council, through Ferrer, to support the group’s August 23 Advocacy. Ferrer agrees with Alcala that there is a legal basis for Congress to favor the August 23 Advocacy because the Cry of Pugadlawin was an act of the people to assert their right to be free and be a sovereign nation, and to exercise that right as they did exercise it through the Katipunan at Pugadlawin. Section 1 Article II of the 1987 Constitution favors the Pugadlawin exercise of sovereign right by clearly stating that “sovereignty resides in the people and all government authority emanates from them.”
