QC, DENR join hands in massive tree planting

THE Quezon City Parks Development and Administration Department (PDAD) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) are joining hands in planting trees in line with the city’s 75th founding anniversary celebration. PDAD chief Zaldy Dela Rosa said 75,000 indigenous trees will be distributed in the city’s 142 barangays to kick off the greening program. The PDAD intends to plant varieties of trees on the streets that also bear the names of the trees, like Kamias trees at Kamias Road, Kamuning at Kamuning Road , Ilang-ilang at Ilang-ilang Street and many more. Each barangay will receive 530 trees for the two-part initial planting activity, the first 25,000 seedlings to be planted simultaneously on September 21 this year on the occasion the city’s Barangay Day, and 50,000 for the celebration of Arbor Day on June 25, 2015.
