Mayor Herbert Bautista of Quezon City has vowed to donate at least 100 motorized boats to the local fishermen of Tolosa, Leyte, to help them earn for their living. Fishing, which is the main source of livelihood of Tolosa residents, was affected after boats and fishing equipment of local fisherfolk in the said municipality were lost at the height of Super Typhoon Yolanda. Besides the donation of motorized boats, Bautista promised to assist the municipality in other forms of livelihood assistance that the city government could provide either through trainings of their residents for other sources of income or “giving out” of capital that could be used for a small business. The Quezon City government, the mayor said, will also lead in the rehabilitation effort in Tolosa. Bautista said that the Quezon City humanitarian mission, led by city engineer Joselito Cabungcal, had already made an assessment of the damaged infrastructure of Tolosa which experts from the city government could study and plan in the next few months.
