The Quezon City police is still hunting 14 of the 16 inmates who bolted the Cubao Police Station (PS-7) early morning of New Year’s eve. Quezon City Police Director Joel Pagdilao said a massive manhunt operation was launched, which already netted two of the 16 detainees who escaped. He identified the duo as Wilmer Morales, a convicted thief for ‘akyat-bahay’, and Roberto Valdez, who is jailed for robbery. Pagdilao said the detainees escaped detention at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The inmates reportedly took the chance to escape after duty officer SPO1 Jade Gavina went away to relieve himself. When Gavina went back to his desk, the detainees were no longer in sight. Pagdilao ordered an intensified manhunt operation to recapture the escapees and the relief of police officers responsible for the escape. As of Thursday morning, the Cubao station chief was already relieved from his post.
