• QC implements curfew hours for minors


    The Quezon City Council has approved a “Discipline Hours” measure prescribing penalties for minors who stay outside their home and parents or guardians who will let minors roam in public places in the city from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Under the ordinance, parents or guardians will undergo merits counseling and a fine of P2,000 or 48 hours community service for first offense, two counseling sessions and a fine of P3,000 or render 72 hours community service for second offense; and for third offense, the minor who violates the measure will be turned over to the social service development department of the city, with his or her parents or guardian facing a fine of P5,000 and six months’ imprisonment. The measure also covers minors who are not Quezon City residents, but are apprehended for violating the curfew within the city’s territorial jurisdiction.
