The Quezon City (QC) government has formally activated its disaster risk reduction and management office (DRRMO) with an initial set of officers who will perform specific functions in response to situations brought about by natural or human-induced disaster. Mayor Herbert Bautista of Quezon City signed executive order 5 series of 2013, establishing the Quezon Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (QCDRRMO), which took effect on July 15. The QCDRRMO will be headed by Noel Lansang, supported by Daisy Flores for administrative and training; Ma. Cinderella Garcia for research and planning; and Teddy Ibañez for operations and warning. At present, the QCDRRMO two-story building is under construction at the city hall compound facing Kalayaan Avenue. QC is the first local government in the country with a DRRMO to be housed in its own building.
