• QC rookie police lauded by boss’s Mom

For Police Officer 1 Luis Refe Jr. of Cubao Police Station, there was nothing extraordinary with helping an old femle motorist who got stalled with a flat tire along Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City. Until it turned out that the motorist was the mother of Quezon City Police District Director Chief Supt. Joel Pagdilao, who sent the following text message: “My Mom was driving along Aurora Blvd then suddenly had a flat tire. The officer happens to be patrolling that time and extended his assistance to my Mom, not minding na nadumihan na ang uniform nya at pinagpawisan na under the afternoon heat. My Mom offered him a P500 bill as a token for assisting my Mom, but he refused politely . . . GOD BLESS him and I pray na sana marami pang katulad ni PO1 Luis Refe sa serbisyo (God bless him and I pray that there are more people like PO1 Luis Refe in the service)! Thank you so much Sir for the attention accorded! GOD BLESS!”

    1. More than anything, a spontaneous act of concern should merit not just commendation but promotion. Commissioned officers have no problem getting in line for promotion, but ordinary cops have to go through numerous difficulties before they are recognized. For his act of kindness, PO1 Refe deserves a rank higher if only for other policemen to emulate–and to shame the corrupt ones in the PNP. Good riddance.

      • I second the commendation of promotion to PO1 Luis Refe. Pilipino ka nga sir Refe!
