COMMANDO gang leader Jaybee Niño Sebastian has reportedly been enjoying “special treatment” at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
To prove the allegations wrong, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Saturday finally demolished his kubol [quarter]that had an entertainment room, cafeteria, gym and garden.
The kubol, located at Building 14 in the maximum security compound, was raided late last year but authorities found several luxurious and prohibited items in the recent shakedown.
On Wednesday last week, the raiding team also tore down the recording studio of award-winning musician Herbert “Ampang” Colangco, a convicted bank robbery gang leader who has been serving his 12- to 14-year prison sentence since 2009.
Colangco is one of the “very important prisoners” for his celebrity-like lifestyle. He even managed to release a gold and platinum album, shoot music videos and hold concerts in and outside his detention.
NBP Superintendent Richard Schwarzkopf Jr. said they will not allow such special treatment in the national penitentiary.
He said they will continue the demolition of illegal structures next week.
The official said the BuCor will set up shipping container vans that will serve as new prison cells.
The installation of container vans will help decongest the 14,000 inmates confined in 13 dormitories in the 19-hectare prison complex.
