LILIA Cuntapay, known as the queen of Philippine horror movies for her portrayal of ghosts, passed away Saturday morning in Pinili, Ilocos Norte. She was 80.
Cuntapay’s son Gilmore was with her when she died.
Gilmore said his mother was trying to tell him something on Friday night.
“She was weak and she was saying things that I could not understand but I felt that she was already saying goodbye,” he said.
Gilmore said their family plans to celebrate Cuntapay’s birthday on September 16.
He thanked those who helped his mother during her time of need.
Cuntapay was best known for her portrayal of ghosts or the infamous “White Lady” in films.
She has been an actress since 1980.S he won the best actress award for the Cinema One Digital Film Festival for the movie “Six Degrees of Separation.”
She was last seen in the hit ABS-CBN teleserye, “Ang Probinsyano.”
