Quezon City beefs up Yuletide security

SENIOR Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, QUEZON City Police District (QCPD) director, on Thursday said more uniformed and plainclothes policemen will be deployed to the streets and places of convergence as part of beefing up security for the Yuletide. Eleazar said a sufficient number of personnel will be deployed as Christmas approaches since this is the time when markets liven up and “we expect tourists, local or foreign, at their largest volumes. We also expect that criminals may take advantage of this opportunity to carry out their nefarious activities, and this is what we want to prevent. We should not give them any opportunity.” The QCPD will also tighten its guard in churches for the traditional Simbang Gabi (Dawn Masses) there starting on December 16, while Police Assistance Desks will be established in 23 malls, 30 bus terminals and 13 train stations. For emergencies, the public may call the PNP hotlines: 2286 (Itaga mo sa Bato), 2920 (Isumbong mo kay Tsip), 921-5267 (QCPD-DOPD), 925-8417/436-11 (DTOC) and 911 (Pilipinas 911).
