• Quezon City Eye Center to sue PhilHealth for libel

The Quezon City Eye Center is planning to file a libel case against the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) for making false accusations on its operations that forced them to close down, the chief executive officer and co-founder Dr. Raymond Evangelista said in a forum on Saturday. The eye center belied the accusations of PhilHealth when the agency ordered suspension of payments of claims they filed last May, alleging a tremendous increase in claims from P92.5 million with 9,375 claims in 2013 to P156 million for 10,944 claims in 2014. The 18-year-old center was built in 1997 and was accredited by PhilHealth in 2002 as a health care provider. It has been helping patients who are senior citizens and the less fortunate, according to the center.
