LUCENA CITY: The provincial government of Quezon hired 100 youths under the Department of Labor and Employment’s Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) this summer. Provincial Employment Service Officer Atty. Melojean Puache said SPES has been running for three years as part of Gov. David Suarez’s program to help poor but talented youths. SPES is mandated under Republic Act No. 9547 otherwise known as “An act to help poor but deserving students pursue their education by encouraging their employment during summer and/or Christmas vacations through incentives granted to employers.” The program is open to youths whose parents have net income not exceeding P36,000 annually.
