Quiapo bombing suspect falls


Manila police arrested Raymond Mendoza, 21, a suspect in the April 28 Quiapo bombing, a day before the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit. Recovered from him were a .38 caliber revolver with ammunition and a fragmentation hand grenade. The bombing that wounded 13 people was followed by another blast last May 6. Police said all the explosions were caused by a gang war. Another suspect, Abel Macaraya was arrested on May 8 after being caught by CCTV camera as the one who placed a homemade pipe bomb on Quezon Boulevard and Soler Street at on April 28. Macaraya allegedly planted the bomb to avenge his teenage brother-in-law, who was mauled by members of the group Kahulugan.
