The Manila Times met with a very excited Richard Gomez this week, whose newest television project premieres tonight on TV5. There will be no acting in this particular show and the dramatic actor is excited just to be himself.

“I’m just a happy person as you all know—tawa lang ng tawa—which is why I’m very excited to host my third game show to date, titled Quiet Please! Bawal Magingay.” he revealed. “Pag game show host ka, it’s really your own personality that comes out; and you can’t mask who you are.”

Richard, who is affectionately called “Goma” in showbiz circles, has proven himself to be quite an effective game show host with previous runs of Family Feud (GMA Network, 2008 to 2010) and The Biggest Game Show in the World-Asia (TV5, 2012).

He is all the more eager to host Quiet Please!, another franchise from Fremantle Media, because the TV5 production has a freehand in further shaping the program.

“This game show is a very young concept and has only been aired in Kazakhstan before the Philippines,” informed Goma. “Kaya may opportunity tayo na gumawa ng ‘bible’ niya dito sa atin.”

From a demo game, The Manila Times witnessed after the host’s interview, Quiet Please! shows quite a lot of promise in bringing on thrills and laughs, contrary to its title.

The object of the game is to complete an ordinary task without making any noise. Viewers will find excitement in watching whether the contestants will be able to successfully avoid setting off a giant “noise-meter,” an ultra-sensitive, noise-measuring device that sounds an alarm when it reaches a certain noise level.

“It could be anything from tearing a piece of paper to opening a soda can,” enthused Goma. “Sensitive microphones are all over the studio so the slightest sound will cause a contestant to lose.”

Assisting the handsome actor in his hosting duties is comedienne K Brosas.  Celebrity players will compete in tonight’s premiere namely TV5’s big stars Derek Ramsey, Alice Dixson and Wendell Ramos for “Team Sexy,” and Goma’s best friends in the business Joey Marquez and Anjo Yllana with his former leading lady Snooky Serna as “Team Katawan.”

Quiet Please! Bawal ang Maingay airs at 8 p.m. tonight. In line with the game show, TV5 is working on a Quiet Please mobile application so the public can also enjoy the unique concept outside the program.
