President Benigno Aquino 3rd has appointed Leonor Quintayo as the new head of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).
Palace deputy spokesman Abigail Valte said that Mr. Aquino signed the appointment letter of Quintayo and the seven new commissioners of the NCIP.
The officials will have a three-year term of office.
Quintayo, who represents Southern and Eastern Mindanao, replaced Zenaida Pawid, who was named NCIP commissioner representing Region 1 and the Cordilleras.
The other new commissioners are Percy Brawner representing Region 2; Bayani Sumaoang representing Region 3 and the rest of Luzon; Dionesia Banua representing island groups of Mindoro, Palawan, Romblon, Panay and the rest of the Visayas; Datu Cosme Lambayon representing Northern and Western Mindanao; and Era Espana representing Central Mindanao.
The President has also appointed Teresita Inciong as the executive director of the Early Childhood Care and Development Council.
Ma. Gloria Tango was also appointed as acting assistant secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment, while Christopher Lawrence Arnuco was named chairman and administrator of the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority.
