• Raids yield P250M fake products


    AROUND P250 million worth of counterfeit products were confiscated by police and customs elements during a series of operations in Binondo and Quiapo, Manila on Saturday.

    Director Benjamin Magalong of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said the raids were conducted on several buildings where the counterfeit products were being kept.

    First to be raided were units 407, 408 and 409 of Fortune Palace building along Juan Luna Street in Binondo, Manila.

    Magalong said found in the building were P20 million worth of assorted fake National Basketball Association (NBA) jerseys and other clothing apparel.

    Government operatives also seized fake electronic products on units 2A, 3A, 3B and 4A of Gui Bldg. at Palma Street, Quiapo, Manila.

    Confiscated there were fake electronic products of Samsung, Apple Ipods, Beats Monster speakers, Hello Kitty mini speakers, Sony MP5 players and several counterfeit branded wristwatches.

    The confiscated fake items were brought to the Bureau of Customs warehouse for safekeeping while appropriate charges are being readied against their owners.
