Ginebra and Rain or Shine, two formidable teams struggling to make it to the next round, face separate foes today in the 39th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup elimination round at the Araneta Coliseum.

Rain or Shine, carrying a 1-3 slate, is hoping to get good results from new import Wayne Chism when it face Meralco Bolts (3-2) at 5:45 pm while Ginebra Kings and Air 21 Express will break their 2-3 win-loss tie at 8 p.m.

PBA Governor, lawyer Mamerto Mondragon confirmed the replacement of Alex McLean after his squad’s 74-91 loss to San Mig Coffee on Saturday. The 6’9 Chism played for one game in the pre-season tournament with Barako Bull but failed to get clearance from his previous team in Hungary, prompting the Energy Cola to sign Josh Dollard instead.

Despite Leon Rodgers’ 32 points and 11 rebounds, the Ginebra Kings, on the other hand, still suffered a 87-94 setback to solo leader Talk ‘N Text on Sunday to remain tied with Alaska and Air 21 at the fifth to seventh spots all carrying similar 2-3 slates.

Meanwhile, Ranidel de Ocampo of Talk ‘N Text bagged the Accel-PBA Player of the Week plum for the period of March 17 to 23.

“Ranidel has been a rock for us and is a huge part of our team. He has been very consistent and productive this conference. His combination with our import Richard Howell has given us a solid inside and out game,” said TNT coach Norman Black, a former PBA grand slam winner.
