The Rain or Shine (ROS) Elasto Painters outgunned the Talk ‘N Text (TNT) Tropang Texters, 116-108 to take a win and tie with the latter at 1-1 in their PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals match-up.
Despite a career high 44-point performance by TNT star guard Jayson Castro, Rain or Shine still managed to level the playing field for the finals series at one win a piece.
ROS had the upper hand after the first 12 minutes of play, banking on the six opening period points of import Wayne Chism to lead Talk ‘N Text, 27-26.
The Tropang Texters, however, came back in the second quarter and was propelled to a 62-49 lead over the Elasto Painters at halftime following Jayson Castro’s blitz from beyond the arc, who converted seven out of his nine three point attempts to grab 27 points after the first half.
Coach Yeng Guiao’s men retaliated in the third period scoring 36 points over Talk ‘N Text’s 22 points to again grab a one-point lead, 85-84, going into the final quarter.
The Elasto Painters sustained their offensive throughout the final quarter to dump the Tropang Texters and grab their first win in the series.
Paul Lee and import Wayne Chism ended Game Two with a combined tally of 50 points while Jireh Ibanes clinched 12 points along with five crucial rebounds that gave their team a much-needed win.
