ILOILO CITY: Continuous heavy rains hamper the construction of 1,000 housing units at the relocation site of Iloilo River Subdivision Phase I at Barangay Lanit, Jaro district by the National Housing Authority (NHA). Reg. Dir. Isagani Jalbuena reported to city Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and Ilonggo Senate President Franklin M. Drilon the delay in completing the construction of 1,000 units and only more than 300 initial units were completed and awarded to the relocated families from Barangay North San Jose, Molo district. Jalbuena admitted that all the 1,000 housing units are slated for completion by August 30, 2013 but heavy rains affected the soil foundation and some septic tanks were washed out. He said the completion is being reset by June 2014 so that rehabilitation works will be conducted at the 5.6 hectares relocation site.
