SOME 150 rallyists almost clashed with 200 policemen of the Manila Police District (MPD) on Saturday when the protesters attempted to get near the main gate of the US embassy along Roxas Boulevard.
BayanMuna told The Manila Times that the rallyists were from the southern provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and Quezon.
The protesters started gathering along Padre Faura at about 11 a.m.
They tried to cross the Roxas Boulevard but were met by a phalanx of policemen.
The protesters staged a program filled with anti-American speeches and burned US flags before 6 p.m..
Police exercised maximum tolerance even after some protesters threw bottled water at them.
The protesters left the area before 6:30 p.m.
