KIA Carnival’s 7’4 import Peter John Ramos posted 36 points and 33 rebounds to lead his team to victory against former champion Alaska Aces, 103-89, in the Philippine Basketball Association Season 40 Commissioners Cup at the Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday.
Three days after losing to another expansion team Blackwater, the Carnival bounced back behind the prowess of Puerto Rican national player Ramos. Kia improved its win-loss record to 4-5.
“I challenged the boys to play hard this time; last game we’re flat, we relaxed because we’re coming from back to back wins,” said KIA assistant head coach Chito Victolero. “ Our goal is to get to the playoffs but told the boys to focus game to game.”
“I think we’re more motivated right now because we have an effective communication inside and we’re trying to build a chemistry.”
Rookie Karl Dehesa notched 14 points, JR Cawaling 13 points and LA Revilla 10 points plus five rebounds and five assists for the Kia Carnival
The Aces, who had no answer to Ramos’ onslaught, suffered their fifth defeat in seven games. Import Damion James led Alaska with 25 points and 14 rebounds.
Ramos scored 49 points in his teams loss game against Blackwater on Saturday before their playing head coach Manny Pacquiao left for Los Angeles, California.
